Sudanese/American MC/producer Oddisee hails from the DMV and has been a staple in DC’s underground hip hop scene for most of the 2000s. I’m not just posting this guy’s tape because of hometown love, he’s got serious talent. Whether rapping or producing, Oddisee works meticulously and methodically in perfecting his sound; so much so its hard for me to tell what he does better. However, its clear that his true love is beatmaking, he has released over a dozen instrumental mixtapes since he got started way back in 1999. Representing Upper Marlboro in Prince Georges County, Oddisee has carefully built his base in the DMV area, gaining a reputation as the premier producer/rhymer in the Nation’s Capital.

Odd Renditions is a free 4-track EP of Oddisee remixes of very recognizable Bon Iver, Metronomy, Marvin Gaye, and K-Os tracks. The reworking of the samples, solid instrumentation and lyrical flow are all first class. A thoroughly enjoyable, uplifting, listenable remix mini-album. This EP is just a taster for June 5th when People Hear What They See, Oddisee’s next full-length studio album, is released. Stream Odd Renditions below and grab it for free in exchange for your email address at his Bandcamp
